DESCRIPTION:The Ride\nWhy not join us for this increasingly popular ride\, which in 2018 will be from Ypres\, Belgium to Northampton.  The ride entitled ‘The Troops Are Coming Home’ is to help us commemorate the 100 years since the end of World War 1.  Your application needs to be received by 31st March 2018. \nSplit into teams that suit most cycling abilities\, and cycling through some of Belgium & Hollands rich countryside & beautifully laid cycle paths along the Dutch coast\, we head off the ferry to England’s best rural countryside in Essex\, Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire\, taking in historic war sites and cultural cities & cycling home to a true English reception. \nThe cost of the ride for each cyclist is £450 with £100 deposit payable when submitting the application form.  The balance of £350 needs to be paid by 31st March 2018. \nThis entrance fee is used to cover all your accomodation\, travel to Ypres\, ferry crossings and most of your meals. \nDay 1:  Meet in Northampton\, and board a coach to take you to Ypres\, Belgium.  You will be treated to a tour of the Pidy factory in Ypres\, visit the Menin Gate in time for the evening ceremony which commemorates those fallen in war\, followed by an evening meal to get to know your fellow team members \nDay 2:  Set off from Ypres and cycle 81 miles across (mainly!) flat paths to Middelburg in Holland\, where you will stay the night in a hotel. \nDay 3: Depart Middelburg and cycle just 60 miles today to the Hook of Holland\, where we will catch the overnight ferry to Harwich.  Accomodation will be in twin cabins \nDay 4: Once off the ferry\, you will cycle 71 miles from Harwich to the beautiful city of Cambridge\, where we have secured accomodation in one of the many colleges. \nDay 5:  The final day is just 58 miles from Cambridge\, back to your start point Northampton\, where we will have a warm welcome for all our cyclists\, and an evening civic reception in the town. \nFor more details and an application form\, please email laura@northamptonhopecentre.org.uk \nor download the application form here \nSponsorship\nEach rider is asked to raise a minumum of £500 in sponsorship for the Hope Centre. \n  \nTo view a video of last years event video\, click here \nPre Event Rides\nThere are some practice rides planned for 2018\, so if you’re worried about your fitness level\, don’t be\, we will help you to be ready for the main event.  The pre-event rides will take place on the following dates: \nSaturday 17th March \nSunday 15th April \nSaturday 5th May \nSunday 27th May \nSaturday 16th June \nSunday 8th July \nSaturday 28th July \nSunday 19th August \nSunday 2nd September \nIf you would like any further information about these rides\, please email our rides organiser Robert Whittle rwhittle@pidy.com
